2012: A Gift of Time from God
Posted on December 29, 2011

"But make sure that you don't get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God."

(Romans 13:11 MSG)

We manage time; we waste time. We spend time; we save time. We wish the time would come; we wish the time would pass. We see time fly; we feel time drag. We watch clocks and carry calendars, creating the illusion that we somehow control time, yet all the while moments flow forward like a mighty river that cannot be stopped, harnessed, or re-routed.

Yet, God controls time. He created time and we, his creations, are fenced by his time, directed and guided by his holy and loving hand. The year 2012 is a gift of time from God.

How will you use it?

What do you think God wants you to do with the 365 days of this next year?

Everyone Needs Love
Posted on October 16, 2011

I think at the core of who we are, we all crave the very same thing. It goes beyond happiness, success, knowledge, or even meaning. From the beggar to the king, from the famous to the faceless......everybody needs love.

God loves you so much that he sent his son to die for YOU! And he loves you just the way you are! Think about it this way: Would that be hard for you to do? Send your only son to die for the sins of everyone who once lived and will live! That's a pretty big thing to do!

Through the craziness of life we often forget and sometimes don't care about all the injustice in the world. We often say: what can I do? What difference is my contribution going to make? Someone else will do it. But the reality of it is your support can make all the difference! Someone else might not do it. You see you can't think of just yourself, you have to think about the big picture. All of these thousands if not millions of people joining together to help fight for something they believe in. All they may need is one small gift to finish their project. It can make a big difference.

Of course giving isn’t just about money. You give when you pray for the project, the people doing the work, and the people in the community. You give of your time and voice when you tell others what you are doing and invite them to join.

In the past twenty years, extreme poverty has been cut in half. Hundreds of millions now have safe drinking water. The evidence of progress is silencing the cynics. We are witnessing the dawn of a stunning opportunity.  The question is, what will it take to finish the job? What will it take to end extreme poverty altogether?

The solution is closer than you think. Your friends, your church or fellowship group, your class or business…together can form an unprecedented alliance of Christians, churches and poverty-fighting organizations to bring an end to extreme poverty.

The strategy is to connect thousands of churches, teams of people like you, with thousands of local projects around the world. The more people involved, the greater the impact because the power is in the numbers. I found a organization called 58 that is made up of thousands of people joining together to help end extreme poverty.
They got their name from Isaiah 58.

Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

- 1 John 4:11

If we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

- 1 John 4:12b

God is love.

- 1 John 4:16

Just as God is love, we are called to love everyone, to help those in need, and to love them as Christ loves them. Proverbs 14:21 says blessed is he who is kind to the needy. People may say I can't afford to give money to support, but for americans the majority of the time that is just an excuse. You have all your necessities in life. You have a roof over your head, clean clothes on your back, food to eat, a family who loves and cares about you. A lot of these people don't have any of these! Just think! What if God was going to use your money to change a whole entire culture? He could! He could be yearning for you right now to take a step of faith and potentially change a life. And just that alone would be worth it!

Courageous
Posted on October 02, 2011

I just saw Courageous the movie in theaters this past Friday and WOW! I have no words to describe it. It was a absolutely amazing movie! I would not trade watching it for anything. The movie was very encouraging, inspiring, and emotional. I was deeply moved by the film and I will never be the same. I would highly recommend this movie to any young men or older men for that matter. I'm not saying this is a movie for men only but it will hit home with a man since its geared toward men. This is the exactly the movie that I needed to see and a lot of other men should see. I believe in this movie so much that I would pay for you to go and watch it!
